As i'm getting into Trackdays more and more i have been thinking what aeras can i improve my car in.
I defo want to get some brake cooling ducts as i have managed to burn the paint off my front AP's which now look silver!!!! Turner motorsport do some and i will look to pick a set up from the States next time i'm over there. ( far cheaper than buying the same set from Simpsons!) My next dilema is what is the best bushing setup for a road/track car? At the minute i have standard bushes all round apart from Poly RTAB. I'm not to worried about ride comfort as i don't really do that many road miles. I know that there are limiting kits and solid bushes etc but what i don't know is what benifits each type has. I know i could phone different tuners to get there opinions but i would prefer to ask you lot and especsially the racers, track day addicts who have already done this . Thanks Guys. ![]() |

I had considered brake ducts. Simpson asked if i was getting heat issues with the APs to which i said 'no' - they said 'don't bother then'... Most ducts i looked at would probably only fit to the rear of the OEM wheel hubs iirc, and may have needed some bastardisation for APs?
With regards to braking judder or noise, i used to get that if i trail braked a lot on track. Now i 'stomp' on the brakes more and am better able to modulate braking force with the APs - my brakes rarely complain now. ![]() RTAB limiter kit was the one of the most effective and cheapest mods that i did to my car - really noticeable handling improvement on turn-in on track. Best thing about them is that you keep your OEM CSL bushes (which are improved over the earlier shite M3 items) and therefore retain some ride comfort. I personally wouldn't use urethane bushes and definitely not billet items as you will only speed up the rate at which chassis weakness/cracking will occur... We will all get it eventually of course! I might learn welding now so that i'm ready when the time comes! ![]() I have found recently that my -2.5 degree camber is not enough for regular track work and have worn my front Cup tyres prematurely on the outer edges! I will try -3 degrees now. Rob. ![]()

Good point regarding the ducts fitting with the AP's. I would hope they would.
I must have a heavy right foot as i haven't seen another set as bad as mine. Shimmy is a demon late braker but his are ok. I wonder if i'm not cooling them down enough???????? I usually do one cool down lap. i'm glad you have found the same as me regarding the the front camber. I'm looking forward to getting mine adjusted when i get back next time. |

Whats on the car at the moment? Ref bushes, go for poly bushes if you really want but its a lot of money (lot of labour) and really only worthwhile if you're racing.
