Strange letter from CCI - ??
Has anyone else received one of these. I am away so my wife read it to me. I have to say it was none to clear but something along the lines of wanting to do a credit check on me and asking if my cars insured with them were my main cars.
To clarify my insurance is not due for renewal until late March/April and the premium was all paid up front anyway. I have emailed them to get clarification and will try and get my wife to scan the letter in so that I can add it to this post. So anyone had a wierd letter from CCI? Pip |

Below is the response I got from CCI which is a little clearer then their letter although I do wonder if any of them possess an English 'O' level. The last two sentences are simply abysmal.
I should add that I was under 35 but a few years ago now . Pip Due to Aviva underwriting changes this year we are currently in the process of establishing that the vehicles on the sports car scheme that we currently have in place are not the main drivers vehicle. We can carry on cover if your second or third vehicle but not your main everyday car. The letter issued in the post is advising that we can offer cover on a different standard road policy but not the sports car policy with Inclusive track days. Before we can go ahead and provide a quote we would require consent as it can leave a foot print on the credit search for up to 90 days. The above does not apply to you as you have advised and neither of the cars we Insure are not your main. I hope this reads as not to confusing. |

I got one of these too the other week Pip.
A lot of insurers use credit referencing agencies now, not entirely sure why though. |

CCI odd?
My renewal isnt due yet but im still recovering from last years episode with the deletion of social and commuting to bring the premium down form the clouds!
A friend did have a renewal for an Elise 111R from them tho that was nearly double a few weeks back!! When she trawled the forums it turned out that they no-longer wanted to insure 'standard' Elise's. Any other Lotus was fine even modified track cars etc but not standard fair? I can only assume that thier underwriters have made an almighty fk up with their business model? I am now dreading the CSL renewal:-(

As per my post above they obviously only want second cars ie weekend toys and track cars. They are not interested in main/primary use cars most of which are used for commuting ie higher risk whiplash magnets!!!
So over 35, secondary car and not used to get to work and you will be fine. Pip |

Agreed - but I don't use a car in the week, ever. Sometimes only every other weekend. I don't have commuting on the policy, limit it to x thousand miles per year per policy and am over 35.
But currently, it's my only car. Am I a lower risk if my habits are exactly the same as above but have a daily shitter that I insure as a primary car but never use ? If so, I'll go and buy a £100 metro, insure it and stick it in the street as my primary car / monument and drive my second car at weekends.. Or have I missed something ? |
