Steering Wheel Color
Hello erveryone,
The grey paint on the plastic cover on the steering wheel seems to be coming off, does anyone has already repainting it? Is there a specific color code for this ? Thanks in advance. |

Expansive bit of plastic IMHO though I think that little M badge must have hiked the price up a bit For anyone thinking of just painting it with a rattle can to perfectly match the rest of the CSL trim, think again as this doesn't seem to be an ordinary paint finish, more of a satin, soft touch, rubberised finish

Can be repainted. I just got my 3rd spare set re-done (a used set I bought off ebay uk that was really beat up).
I went through the whole PPG matt finish colour code chart and couldn't find a match. The closest was a Renault colour (I can get this code if you like), but the painter said he had to modify the colour flip to make it right. Taken with the original (never repainted) dash piece in the left corner next to the spare steering wheel - A good painter will be able to match both the finish and the colour. Photos of one with flash and one without to show the colour flip match. (Note, the top and bottom pieces are two different type of plastics - very strange indeed - so the colour will always show up slightly different no matter what you do. I have a spare set of brand new unused trim piece here and the top and bottom are slightly different colour again, it's normal) Last edited by NZ_M3; 28-02-2012 at 06:18 AM. |

Are there any spare parts you DON'T have mate? lol
Good wee thread since mine has gone too, right at the edges and would consider painting it. I'd say Matts (With his Dad's Chinos on) is quite a good match, good enough I'd have thought for the inside of the car. Better than it was certainly. |
