Default 1st outing with Vbox this weekend

Just a warning to all you users (and Nathan) that the questions will likely be coming at a steady rate from now until then.

1st off Im going to load the Scene onto it for some banger racing @ a Knockhill track day.
So.
connect to lap top, upload scene to the Vbox then while at the track insert the memory card and away i go?

Whats the deal with the GPS ariel and the carbon roof?? what does everyone do?

Cheers

I'd test fit it to your car before you go, nothing like losing track time while you faff wondering how best to route the cables....

re roof - black insulation tape down first then more tape on top would do it...

I stuck a double sided sticky pad underneath mine as the fekkus paint isn't so precious

what size memory card you using paul?

Thanks Jim,
Im going to mount everything in the car on Sat with the exception of the ariel which i'll just plug in on the day

Double sided tape would do me as well I reckon but seen something about tin foil somewhere???

Have a 16GB card along with the supplied 4GB one.

Easiest thing to do is copy the scene to the memory card, boot up vbox, pop card in, it'll beep and flash and stuff, then reboot (be patient!) and the scene will be loaded and the status light will come on.

the gps antenna fits in the dash, take out the dashboard 2 screws and mount the antenna on a metal plate (lid of tin of roses i used) to avoid ground reflections. I found the antenna moved on the side panels of the roof as it is not flat. This means there are no cables externally. There is no metal in the top of the dash to block the signals.

Pretty sure id manage to fabricate something for that derek. My Road Angel works fine and it's GPS so guessing the screen doesnt block the signal

The only good place to put it is outside in clear sight of the sky 360 degrees. Anything else is a compromise and may give you false or inaccurate readings. The antenna needs to see a certain amount of satellites consistently to work properly and if it doesn't it will drop.

At tracks like Spa and the Ring bridges and elevations and trees make it worse whereas at flat tracks in the open it's not so bad.

Not sure about Knockhill.....

There is no metal in the windscreen use as large as possible diameter piece of metal (I just taped all the edges) to avoid ground reflections. No problems with drop out at knockhill. BMW fit trackers in this position as reception is good due to carbon roof and non metallic dash
