60k+ with Warranty on DD... can the name be changed??
Just a quick one, car I've been looking at as a Fully Comp warranty with I believe £100 excess and is been paid monthy by DD... can this name be changed without them hiking the price up, or are they likely to start asking for more?
Maybe I could just give the current (maybe soon to be old) owner a chunk of money to keep the warranty going? I do trust him, so no worries there.

So I am interested to know too, the booklet only gives you the option of transfer ownership if paid on annual policy |

Yeh, I want to tread carefully as if its a no-go may see about getting the current owner to carry it on for me.

My understanding is that only the annually paid policy can be transferred and not the monthly DD one. I know someone that got stung in this way where the seller was paying at the lower rate depsite having clicked over 60k and the buyer had to declare mileage resulting in the higher monthly premium. Bit of a doh moment...

When I took out the Warranty I asked about change of ownership and he advised that it can be transferred onto the new owner, not sure if the monthly price goes up though. I would probably think that it stays the same.

Hi All,
I just had this when I sold my E46 M3 which was on 61k. My policy was on direct debit, what happens is Mondial cancel the sellers policy and you have to start your own. Which means anything over 60k miles costs a fortune. I just started a new policy on the csl (less than 60k) miles and they want £82 per month for £250 excess but after 11 months if you ring up and amend your excess you get the normal mondial rate after your first 12 months of being penalised for lapsing the warranty. Im not sure if this applies to cars over 60k though? Id give them a call and get a quote. |

AFAIK, any BMW/Mondial warranty can be transferred but I imagine when registering you'd have to give the present mileage which I suppose 'could' be verified by MOT.
How much is it monthly (Roughly) once it nips over 60K miles, out of interest? |

They ask for the exact mileage reading when the warranty details are changed, and ou will be taking out a fresh warranty so if the the car has covered over 60K the rates will increase.

I'm over 60k so it's money in the bank instead as a contingency fund. I think there are significantly more exclusions over 60k miles as well. Cheers, Phil |

Just get your mate to ammend the DD details and use your bank to pay.
Thats what I would do. |
