Changing rear pads
I am just about to change my rear pads on standard OE brakes. Can I push the piston back into the caliper like you can on the front brakes or will I need a special tool to screw the piston back in?
Cheers guys

I'm 99% sure you'll have to wind the piston in using a caliper wind back tool - you can get them from Hellfords though around £15
Saying that it's possible to do it without the tool, just a lot easier with... Hope that helps |

You're thinking of VAG stuff mate The O.E. BMW wrongness just pushes back, like the fronts. Using the old pads to lever against makes the whole job a doodle

I have had far to many VAG cars that's for sure this is why I don't gamble - I was 99% sure but still got it wrong

Thanks guys. . I always find levering off the old pad quite difficult. I use a G Clamp instead - clamp between the old pad and caliper (using a block of wood against the caliper so not to damage) then gently tighten the clamp driving the piston back in.

This was the last one I built - same colour royal blue as yours looking at that photo... Stupid low Edition 1 G60 : Rallye: I'm not sure I could go back to one now though as any more than a track/show car |
