Default Can you get BMW warranty on a car if previously lapsed?

Hi Guys,

New to the forum, looking to buy a CSL (immediately...lol). A BMW warranty is a 'must' for me (as well as a low miles car so it won't cost a fortune to renew every year lol)

I looked at a car yesterday which was in great condition & drove well, but it DIDN'T have the warranty, and when we spoke to the local BMW dealer they said it can't be put on a car if it's previously lapsed even if the Service History is perfect (so you can't just 'buy' one). I was surprised at this as I've done that with Porsche & Mercedes in the past.

In your experience is that true? (ie if I want a BMW warranty I can only buy a car that already has it, or from a BMW main dealer...obviously paying the painful £££ premium for the latter!)

Many Thanks!

i contacted BMWuk last week and asked the same question. They checked the number plate and VIN against their records and told me mine was ok to warranty through a dealer (over 60k miles with full bmw service record)

do the same and you should find out

I just renewed my lapsed warranty no problem.

Just over 41k, and full dealer history. . (full up to date and on time dealer hist is a must)

It just cost a little more when lapsed thats all.

Doesnt even have to be FBMWSH as long as you can show it has been serviced by a professional garage and in accordance with BMW guidelines using BWM parts. BMW actually turned out cheaper than warrantywise which was a bit of a result.

Yeah, good for others to know that are considering it. Well done. Though I was told authorised main dealer to do the servicing and thinking about it, it was in there with the few conditions they listed that had to be met when re-newing from lapsed.

BMW Warranty told me over the phone that I couldn't even use an independent, everything HAD to be main dealer!?

Saying that they couldn't even get my fucking name right when they emailed me so your guess is as good as mine!
