Default Dont fit 10mm Eibach spacers on E46!

(blatantly nicked from another forum for safety sake)

From Eibach Technical Services

"The problem you have with the spacer is caused by using the wrong parts on this car. - As you can find in our catalogue or website, the 10mm spacers are not allowed to use on the E46. We specially created 12mm spacers for this car as the center hub of the E36 and E46 models build up to high for the 10mm spacers. If using 10mm spacers the center hub of the wheel trunk is pressed against the inner hub of the spacer which causes the shown damage.

So you wouldn´t have any problem by using the correct parts on the car."

My 10mm spacers broke last year, centre hub cracked as warned about here.

Stick to 12mm.

H & R appear fine, no problem with mine at all at 10mm, and they have seen some reasonably serious Ring use with Andrew.
And the proof is here http://www.h-r.com/includes/download.php?file=../bin/01EUTG104.pdf
Would be interested to see pix of the damage with the Eibach ones.Sounds like they dont machine the register deep enough.

yep

the ring just cracks off whilst on the car

no serious issue as the bolts will be tight but chance if you take on andoff you dont mount the rim correctly and wheel could come loose

AH HA ! all is revealed, I dont think my H & R ones have that landing area for the centre hub to bottom out on, and IMHO it doesnt make sense to pull the spacer up against the shaft end of the centre hub, as that end face is non-functional really, and wont therefore be toleranced on its length as tightly as it would need to be to ensure that a precision machined spacer with a shoulder as the Eibach ones have, would fit every time.
