Default E92 race car has begun

Last day of road car yesterday, now looks a sorry state.

Boot, front and rear bumpers, bonnet and doors off to carbon fibre guys, AP brakes back to AP for checking over and Nitron race suspension off after brief road test.

Later this week it gets the interior removed once canbus sensors de-programmed then off for cage, then dipping, then painting then re-assembly in time for Autosport.

hmmm I can understand the boot, bonnet and doors being made into carbon ... but the bumpers?? The new generation bumpers on the M3s weigh practically nothing and are as flimsy as a limp XXXX ... hard to imagine any weight savings to be gained out of this - aerodynamically for sure, but wouldn't an add-on item make a little more sense? Could market it as at the same time ??

Aero, the new ones will be similar to GT2 bumper. We're making two versions, a single skin for racing and double skin CF one for road cars.

As in, making your own bumpers? You going to make them available to purchase as an aftermarket accessory?

Yep. Road version will be a little higher than the race and double skinned. Will fit straight onto BMW mounts. Same applies for the CSL flip bootlid and vented bonnet (with bigger bulge oooer)

First stage of the prep is on the website here:

Not much text as that needs to wait until magazine publiscation but you get the idea.
Its is very smilar to an E46 tbh.

CSL Cup E46's run with (ballasted) 1300kg (incl driver) with 390bhp ish. Not sure at this stage on the E92 but hope to get weight down to 1300kg (dry), lower if we can and then run power to get same ptw figure as E46's. Witht he V8 we can run it at low as 400bhp with restrictors or 480bhp with toys. As I'm the only E92 in the CSL Cup next year (initially anyway) I will repeat my role as R&D driver to get the performance of the chassis maximsed then ballasted to be comparable. I'll be in the open class if I'm on my own.
