Default Chattering CD player.

Anyone got/had a chattering CD player? Thats the best way to describe the noise that comes from it occasionally. Usually after finishing a disc or when opening the door it chatters cyclically on and off........When it does this trick, the CD player is useless and does not respond to any controls. Eventually it decides to vomit forth the CD or stop. Then its useable till the next time. Any advice would be welcome.

Cheers!

Mine jumps a lot but with the gruppe m now, you can't really hear it over the exhaust any more

Gromit, had exactly the same thing with mine 6 months ago. Got the head unit changed under warranty, no probs. Used to randomly chunter over, either with a cd in or not, head unit on or not, just unlocking the door would set it off now and then. All OK with replacement unit.

Thanks for that Alex. Unfortunately its one of those things that I bet won't happen when I take it to the dealers! Did they take your word for it or did the thing oblige when asked?

Cheers

Funny you should say that! First time I mentioned it was when it went in for a service. They had a play around but said it didn't do it at all. I was thinking here we go, they don't want to warranty this. However, when I collected the car the next day they said again they couldn't make it do it but have ordered a new unit in to do it under warranty.

It went in a week later for the work. The service guy told me when they went to take the car into the workshop, it did the chunter thing!

Pays to have a known good dealer sort these little things on a CSL. For reference, I take mine to Cheltenham Cotswold and I get good service.
