Car Insurance
Thought I would share my findings with you all on here, as my policy is due for renewal next month
Male 45 years young with wife on policy 5+ NCD 4000 miles per annum Garaged. Tracker not required Avivia - current insurers - quoted £424.00 with a £1050 excess. After telephone conversation, this dropped to £293.04 (why do they always do this - makes my piss boil that you don't get best price first time!!) Competition Car Insurance - £551.90 (oh dear) Classic car insurance £289.50 with £150 excess (yay!) 5000 miles PA. Legal cover and breakdown. Other benefits include agreed value Never having had classic insurance before, it also looks like they don't use your NCD but will hold it to keep it valid, should you require it in the future. Looks like my monies going on the last one. Unless, anyone has any Caveats or tips |

None of us say CCI is the cheapest but if you factor in 5 TDs then they are.

Not sure how they're holding your NCD on a classic policy. I have classic insurance on my Alpina, but only because they class the CSL as my main car, which I thought was a requirement of all classic policies? Then they "mirror" the NCD from the main car to the classic, and the main one carries on earning the years of NCD

Not only that, but they are one of the few insurers that will cover you at the 'Ring (but only organised track days and not public days). I was able to add the CSL to my Escort cover and Pro-rata'd I had to pay an additional £377 (my renewal is Sept).

Just to jump in. I was initially under the impression the Competition Car Insurance (CCI) covered the Nurburgring on closed track daysbut they seem to make quite a thing of reinforcing the fact that they do not. So do most get additional track days from elsewhere or just live on the edge - ???
I am wondering whether to go elsewhere cheaper next year and just pay on top for track cover. Pip |

Mike R are you sure that it is not just the GP part of the closed track day. I read the paperwork several times as I had only just renewed and it looked to me as though the Northloop was NOT included.

The adviser on the phone said that if I sent them the proof of NCD (it was not needed as part of the quote) then they would hold it, add to it as the years progressed and keep it current, should it be required in the future. Would appreciate others take on this. Understand that CCI work out good if you want the 5 track days. But it would probably scratch my itch to do maybe one. |

generally classic insurance policies are available if you also have another 'daily' vehicle. They assume you are using your no claims bonus on your daily car ... but they take into account your no claims . I currently have a daily policy & then 3 classic policies .. all of which ask about my no claims situation ... wether it actually makes any difference to the premiums I don't know.
For interest, I've insured my CSL on a classic policy with Classic Line. Currently running market value , but soon to be agreed value when I can find a specialist to sign my valuation forms |

How would the classic with NCD work if all the other cars I drive I'm just listed as a named driver? Would I end up losing my NC?
I won't be going with CCI this year. |
