smg settings
I've been driving with the SMG set to 5 , which I find perfect for my kind of driving on my local Yorkshire lanes .... but I wanted to check, are there any downsides mechanically to driving in setting 5 all the time? Increased where to the drive train etc ?
On a similar note, what's the downside of driving distances in say setting 3 ? ( this appears to be the more wife friendly setting ) . Possiblity of clutch slur ? 2 weeks or so with my CSL & I'm loving it. Can't believe I didn't get one sooner ..... |

Full throttle shifts in s5 .... As you all know does feel like the rear diff s getting some abuse. Is the csl designed to be driven like this or can it lead in the long term to premature wear in the diff ? Just trying to work out the best driving style for the car

Diff will be fine, it is the rear floor that will rip

My car has had the floor done , so hopefully I can rule that off the list of things to fret over

Free to drive it like you nicked it then. Always flat shift and clutch will be/get better as well.

I used to drive mine I A2 and S5 with m-track mode
I used to to slightly lift off from full throttle on up shifts and I found it was a lot smoother.

Very rarely do I use anything less than S5 to be honest, S6 is fantastic though. Have you tried that? Feels VERY hard on the car but makes for some serious progress if brave enough to switch off the TC.
If you do start to get signs of clutch slur, do the wee reset thing in the owners manual and give it beans for a few miles, shouuld tidy the whole thing up a bit. |
