Hi,
BMW from the E90 with the Multi link rear, which Merc had back in 1982/3, allows for many more Tricks at the rear axle, like Transaxles, pushrods etc without compromising the overall handling and ride dynamics. Its how the rule book views it, though. Rear Trailing arms have always hindered this type of set up. Even BMW in the 91/92 DTM Days were using Monocouque 'arms' at the rear in an attempt to reduce sprung/ un-sprung mass etc. Regards, The Gorilla. |
