so I was on my way to snetterton when the engine suddenly died. I pulled over and re -started the car travelled for a mile when the engine cut out again. re-started the car after a few cranks and coaxed it into a petrol station (lucky for me) half a mile away. The fuel gauge was reading 1/4 tank... that should have been caused for concerned I started off in east london with half tank. I filled it up.. 51 L......... so the tank was indeed dry. no problems after that and proceeded to the track day where the car ran fine and I re-filled it with 1/3 tank left.... 46 L.
My conclusion... fuel gauge needs re-calibration or somethings wrong. It does read full so I think the top half is accurate but when it gets to 50%, then the reading becomes unreliable. what do you think the problem is? Tx |

As Tom said...
It's a known issue on E46s. |
