Maybe I'm thinking E36, they definitely didn't have any clips and rattled a lot.

My RS29s don't rattle as far as I remember, but cant think of any reason other than not clipped in properly.

The rear has clip.
I would be really surprised if there no clip anymore.

They do have a clip but my mech told me they were too short or too weak to tighten it in that caliper space. Even he stretched it a few times, they loosen up after a few hours of driving...

Then you have your answer.

Speak to Pagid to give you new ones.

try ceratec paste, its better than copper slip.

Mercedes ML and R class suffer with front pad rattle/clunk, regrease pads and it goes away, worth a try

They are already ceratec'd a few times. I noticed squealing happens when you keep driving in slow traffic. If you do a couple of high speed brakes, it cuts squealing for some time.

Coppaslip/ceratec etc will not stop the problem if they do not have the prongs fitted on the backing plates. For some reason I think Pagid did two types, weirdly one without the prongs.

To fix the problem...

Take an old set of pads, OEM/other and drill out the top of the stud holding the three legged prong to the pad.

Your Pagids should hopefully still have the stud on the backing plate. Fit the old prongs you just removed over the stud. Tack weld them in place.

This then allows your pads to locate into the piston like they should and then they wont rattle when off the brakes as are held still by the piston.

Alternatively, if new, send them back to wherever they came from and ask if they can be replaced. I bought a set of 2nd hand pads with good material left and had the same problem. Did the above and has been spot on.

Also, I have seen the posts on here from people who have had squeling that is so bad that they have had to spend £3K on a brake upgrade. Can see the benefit on track but is hardly a solution to noisy brakes. Have run RS29's on stock CSL brakes with no issues for 2 years as a daily driver and on track. As long as they get a good bit of heat now and again, the noise stays down. Was also speaking to another member on here about the same who made a good point as well - buff clean the disc properly if discs have had a different pad compound previously.

People read this and still put RS29.
With all due respect, you have been warned and you need to deal with the RS29 excessive noise now.
Rattle doesn't bother me, but coworkers always point it out when I arrive in the morning. Explaining that my car isn't actually broken is always a great way to start the day.

If I were keeping the car long term, I'd go with the AP solution. However, I don't intend to have the car more than another year.
