from what I can discern from research the normal M3 is a 200 cell CAT.

the CSL cat casing was a little lighter hence the different part number. US cars have the 400 CELL equivalent due to stricter emissions, which is why the CSL never made it out there.

all the US lot buy the Euro spec 200 CATs from ebay. its a big discussion on cutters as they have all been looking for cheapo 100 cell ones (which do not exist). either keep OEM or go full decat....which is what I said to them ages ago (keep OEM CATS for MOT swap time)

snippet from a 20 page document on BMW tech spec. shows 200 CELL cat confirmation in the left hand side column for the E46 M3 exhaust system/CAT (low number of cells = 200).

no I meant for the money that the cutters want to pay for them ;-)

the fleabay ones they buy are 15mm too short

agreed. Gut some used oem cats off ebay, making them a de cat, get a re map to sort out the issues with fuelling/flat spots and you are away. Nice gain then and will fly through the revs.
