Handbrake wire

I have just striped the inside console and carpet out of my car and have come accross a Blue/Brown with yellow rings on a wire going nowhere, does any one know where this wire shoud go cannot see any obvious place the wire is plated at the end
Does thie wire clip throught the hole with the copper spring that shorts to the metal when handbrake put on.

Yes they are easy to pull out so guess it came off whilst stripping .

I take it I just push the copper spring down and put the wire into the hole in the plastic and let the spring go to clamp into place.
