Yes you need the headlights and the light controle module and it will need the car programed you can buy the wireing from bmw you should also fit the headlight wash if you want it to pass the MOT.

This was much discussed on the old MTorque forum but as Mark says now with tighter controls on MoTs it looks like you will have to be careful with modifications. Especially pertinent to headlights with their self levelling units and headlight wash systems.

The first CSL I looked at BMW Hindhead had halogen lights and was £3,000 cheaper than a lot of private cars with similar mileages. I then looked into the upgrade. BMW would not do it and I think one other owner had or was doing it.

I bought private in the end and did not have to add xenons.

Get yourself a friendly MOT tester and the wash, self level bullshit does'nt matter.

The following statements are aimed at the silly reasons why the washers and level are bullshit IMO.

Headlight washers actually smear your light lens worse than before you washed.

Unless you are towing why would the front end of your car be sticking up in the air? Set your lights to correct height and worry not.

Is it not more to do with the relief of the ground than 'being on tow' . I am sure whilst it may be easy to just bung xenons on I think you may have to look at taking them off on sale as MoT testers start being more picky. Furthermore as most CSL owners are quite picky and they enter the collectable group I am sure the fact that self levelling and the wash system is missing may effect sale.

Lets us face it they will only have to look up the VIN to see it did not come with xenons. Questions will be asked in the house .

Personally I would put the whole system in.

Are we talking about a xenon to bi-xenon update? Or from no-xenon-whatsoever to single xenon? I have xenon, but bi-xenon would be nice. But then again keeping the car as non modified as possible is probably the best for the future.
