This sounds like what my CSL done before it got the engine.
The shimms were done then started the car it had a rattel at the top opened it up next morning shims were out of spec This was the damage and i asked for the head to be removed to see if there was any other damage and the bores were fooked New engine under warranty |

So in the end the car had 7 cam followers replaced under warranty. They were of varying states of wear and some were very faint, but they did them anyway.
On completion the car was quieter than ever, so must have been a growing problem. Still no real explanation other than the valve clearences were rather large according to the technician. But I felt the car was somehow not pulling at the top end like it did before but I'd also spent two weeks driving 550 bhp so decided I was imagining it. But now just 120 miles later it rattles again, but this time it seems different and I'm sure when on idle if I lean into the top of the vanos and I can hear it rattle, but it sounds almost knocky in noise. So now I'm thinking that maybe the vanos wasn't built up properly. I'm thinking about cutting my losses and finding the time to get it to Elms as its due an inspection in a few months time plus I can get them to check and sort this rattle properly under warranty. Who do I need to speak to to get the right advice from them? Or any other ideas? |

My dealer never found out but with a new engine sho cares
I would have thought it was an oil problem but who knows |

Sorry to hear your having problems, Cooper Cobham had it in twice for rattling noise. Changed Alternator and pulleys first time then Vanos the second, very recently. They did the Inspection II as well......... Hope you get it sorted, Emma & Gareth @ Elms is the way to go defo. Thank f@*k for Warranty |
