Reference the steering wheel, one of mine ended up looking exactly like that when I tried cleaning it. I was too harsh with my cleaning and properly ballsed it up It wasn't even that bad before I started

So I sent it to Jack at Royal and he did a great job re-covering it, it's now lovely jubbly so I had the other one done.

If I had to call it I would say the owner did the same. It does then make you think that the owner is not worried about getting the car mint for sale and not replacing/repairing any niggles which it will undoubtedly have. I would certainly check the rubber door seals to see if they are in good order or have been glued back together. All that said in the current market the price seems lowish but no doubt is reflective of the bit of tlc required.

It's the way the market values cars.

Why have I not bought it yet? Because I have a car that I don't want to use to drive to work in.

What I am looking for is something that can be used every day to drive to work in.

£39k with 62000 miles, and yes I am kicking myself.

That sold quite quickly on this forum. Yours has not

That last comment is a bit harsh, especially as you haven't viewed the car. Reading between the lines of people that HAVE, the only reason that it HASN'T sold is that it is one of those cars that doesn't quite fit what people want.

You seem to have two types of buyer at the moment, one who wants a mint low mileage car as a potential investment or someone who wants a high mileage car that has been obviously "used", so they don't feel precious about it and can continue to add miles to it.

Matt's car falls in between the two - it is an immaculate high mileage car - so people viewing it who wanted a car to be used have felt that it was TOO GOOD to do this to and those who have wanted a low mileage car have been put off even viewing it, purely because of the mileage.

Chris... once again you're using presumption as you main source of information and you haven't even answered my original question.
The FACT is: I've effectively SOLD my car twice already, within the first few weeks of it being advertised at end of last year and the second sale was actually sabotaged by another seller by under pricing his lower mileage CSL under my FOR SALE price to secure his quick sale off the back of mine. So yes... it SOLD quickly because it was priced well below its actual value while there was a cash ready buyer about, primed to pull the trigger.
Incidentally, I don't blame my buyer for going for the other car as I would have done the same, if I was in his position. It's simply impossible to compete with that kind of sale tactics

I have since turned down five £38 - £40 K offers point blank as I'm not desperate to sell, unlike some out there, despite my car currently being the cheapest one available FOR SALE, not only in the UK but also in Europe.

I hope your obsession with odometer reading and a futile attempt at lowering the CSL values (single handedly for your own benefit) on CSL forum, of all places doesn't get in a way of you realising your CSL dream.
As much as you may not want to hear this, the CSL Market is predominantly driven by strong hand owner / owner sellers and re-sellers being firm and not buyer with a mildly hostile " I know better "attitude
From what I've read so far my impression is you're waiting for that "quick & desperate" sale of a 60K ish mile CSL at around the £35-£40K mark (i'm guessing) wanting it all your way but unfortunately for you that Boat has long sailed

Not at all.
Your car is not the cheapest for sale at the moment. There are two that are cheaper and BOTH have considerably lower mileage.

If your car has "sold" twice yet not sold then one would have to question the quality of the car.

Since as you state they are in short supply then your car should have flown off the shelf.

You emailed my friend and offered it to him for £40K in October and he bought another one with half the mileage for £1K less.

I think you should take things less personally.

Your car is not the car for me. I want a 60K car to do 30-40K miles in in in 3 years.

I don't want an expensive and high mileage car as there is no advantage to owning it.

I buy it overpriced and sell it with stella mileage for peanuts.

I want to do what you did. Bought it at 60K, used it for 6 years and 30K miles and sell it on before all the niggles start.

As for boats sailing. That is for me to worry about, how deep my pockets can be (with or with out the help of the bank) is my concern. If the RIGHT car comes up then I WILL buy it.

For me your car was offered for 40K in October, un-sold twice and is now 48K.

I have no doubt it will sale and now that you have it on 3 websites it should sell.
But the paradox is there and not one for me to solve nor take a chance on.

Wow, what's happened on this thread?!

Based upon the mileage, and assuming Munich Legends only retail high quality cars (irrespective of whether it's their car or a customer car), this seems like excellent value and will no doubt be sold before this thread has burnt itself out.

Hi Mike
While you may be right about my CSL occupying a unique position in the current CSL market, the two people who actually vied my car weren't bothered about its mileage or it being too good to be regularly used. While they were WOWed by its excellent condition & impeccable service history (which clearly belays its odometer reading of 92K miles now) they could clearly see themselves enjoying it in all sorts of ways, including using it in the way BMW "M" Gods intended

While 92K miles is more than the rest of the Advertised CSLs, it isn't strictly hi mileage (as you say) for a 14 year old BMW M Coupe, unless you suffer from " The British Leyland 100K & out" syndrome (I know you don't Mike)
It is however priced to reflect its higher than average "CSL mileage" of all these Museum/Collectors pieces currently on offer except the SB CSL with 70K miles @ £55K
IMHO I believe a lot of non investor type buyers are a little in denial of the recent rise in CSL values, holding onto the memories of £35K, average mileage CSL of the past.

Calm down dear ... I'm detecting increasing hostility in your recent posts toward me and my CSL, which you've never seen in person yet have an inflated opinion on and carry on making inaccurate presumptions about
Why do you bother with it ? and what are you hoping to get out of this ?
Also, it would be good if you could post the links to these two lower price/mileage CSL you've mentioned above. THANX in advance

I have no hostility to you nor your car.
I have made no assumptions about your car.
I have stated that I prefer OEM bushes for what I want to use a car for and you ripped my throat out.

That is my opinion and I am entitled to it.
The rest is all fact.

As for the two CSLs that are cheaper than yours with less miles that I have seen advertised at the moment. NO. Not until I rule them out for me.
After that then I will post up one as my "new" car.

As someone has stated the ML car will sell before this thread burns out. In an ideal world I have bought a car this weekend but the owner of the car I want is in hospital.

I have always wished you luck selling you car and I have NO doubt it will sell very soon.

CSLs are only going up in value. I am not buying as an investment.
I am buying a car to use. I have an investment in the garage and after years of not using it I can't see the point in doing it again.

I work hard, I am willing to accept running costs and depreciation and I want to drive a CSL (or even a 1M) to work.

I have driven the CSL that sold on this forum a few months ago rather a lot.

That is when I put all my preconceptions about SMG away and decided I wanted one.

But this is not communism and I have the right to chose how I want the car that I purchase to be.
