Clicking from rear of car - CV Joint?

I've noticed a clicking noise over the last few hundred miles coming from the right rear of the car that I hadn't noticed before. Rear top mounts, rear ARB bushes and rear droplinks done recently so I was fairly certain that they wouldn't be the cause.

What I did notice was that the noise is perfectly timed to revolutions of the wheel.

When I jacked the car up I could tell it was coming from the CV joint area (end closest to the wheel), with two clicks for every rotation of the wheel.

Ideas?

I suspect CV joint but it does seem a bit early. Car has ~55k but almost entirely motorway so I'd be surprised if that was it.

strange i have this same thing on my standard m3 69000 miles,i can only here it with windows down and in built up areas.No idea yet as to what is causing it.

Have you checked and adjusted your handbrake shoes/mechanism.

Many just whack the adjustment up on the handbrake lever, but you should first adjust at the shoes.

Mine has the same clicking too, it's at Elms now, possibly a half shaft, I'll let you know

Wasn't a clicking sound as such, but had both rear disc protection plates grow/move/ corrode and touch the disc. First sounded like a stone in the tyre and the second was a scrapping sound. Both did it within 3 months of each other and touched in exactly the same place right behind te calliper carrier.

Will need to check this because I still haven't been able to trace it.

What I have noticed, however, is that the sound is unaffected by me tugging the handbrake whilst driving, but it goes away immediately as soon as I touch the footbrake. Hmm...

Whats brakes you running AP's ?
Check disc for a patch that isnt shiny, and you may find that its where the disc rotates, and the pad is lifted the small bit of clearance it has to hit the top face of the caliper pad carrier, and then it drops the pad and repeats.

So you had the same problem and it is resolved O'Neil?

Dunc - mine is running APs at the rear with the standard AP pad (DS2500 or similar)...
