Ear-plugs and plenty of Euro for speeding fines

Seriously though, they are buggers these days, so be careful!

As for spares on a 'new' car like yours Jon (and one in such impeccable condition may I say ) there is little you can take really. I suppose a fan belt could cause embrrassment and there is the requirement for the spare bulb kit (though this isn't much help with xenons). The spare wheel is an excellent idea, so long as it fits. Perhaps leave the E92 on bricks while you are away and take one of the wheels, as that is better than driving on tyre foam at 50 mph?

Don't forget the damned breathalizer kit that is now law in France and also your reflective jersey.

I'm so glad you are enjoying the car in the manner to which it had become accustomed. I am off to the Le Mans Classic in a 40-year old csl on Friday. Now for that trip I am taking a boot full of spares and most of my tools! Different car......

Fill up with juice in Luxembourg, but you probably already know that

There are hundreds of great roads on the way, but I ( must be a masochist) always like to go the same way- down the concrete road that straddles the belgo-german border from Eupen to Monschau. It is a truly terrible road but then its just fantastic smooth german B-roads all the way(25

currywurst und chips from the cafe at breidscheid

Hi vis vests for all occupants of the car, inside the car

and apparently those cheese eating french idiots now require you to have a disposable breathalyser in your car aswell
