Wink GruppeM

Hello Peeps,

After spending the last 4 months here in Afghanistan its almost home time, going to take a bit of getting used to driving on tarmac again thats for sure.

I've treated myself to a Gruppe M titanium exhaust and was just after some advice on fitting it, the rest of the system is standard so i'm hoping its a pretty straightforward job. Will I need any new gaskets, mounts, etc.

Cheers for advice

P.S. When you've been away from your other half for over 100 days and you're chatting about the up and coming romantic trip to Rome during the only call you've made in 3 weeks, do not say...............

" I can't wait, and the best thing is that when we get back in the UK we can make a detour on the way home and pick up my new exhaust "

She has suggested that I should look at extending my tour of duty out here, as facing the Taliban is a piece of p**s compared to what she has in store for me when I get back.

Regards, Sticky.

you may need a couple of new bolts but that should be it easy job on a ramp.
Your lass will be even more pissed when she hears how loud it is

Good choice sir

It is loud ! Just got back from a drive down to the sea front with the kids. They are the worst for egging me on to make some noise.

Look forward to reading what you think of it!

Real OEM

Remember, you only need to use 2 of the 3 existing mountings for the Back box for the GruppeM
10 SUPPORT RUBBER MOUNTING x 2 18207839657 $11.42
11 Rubber mounting x 2 18201401797 $54.00
12 Hex nut with flange x 4 11621711954 $0.60
13 Hex Bolt x 2 07119912506 $0.41
14 Collar nut x 2 07119927022 $0.20
15 Gasket ring x 1 18111723379 $8.37
16 SQUARE NUT x 4 11621741172 $2.40
17 GASKET RING ASBESTO-FREE x 1 18101405737 $11.80
18 FLANGE x 1 18111719417 $12.64
19 Hex Bolt x 4 07119904533 $2.84

All of this should freshen up everything nicely down there, ;-) Or, you could take the dimensions and get some nice stainless steel items where the nuts and bolts are concerned. I think I'll be going down that route next time as wasted too much money when replacing BB's. GruppeM, 2 x Millteks and now a Supersprints. But happy now
and some of these...

Well done sticky for what you are doing chap
Regards the exhaust, what the lads have said makes the bold assumption that the existing flanges on the mid section side arent cracked, or dont fall apart when loosened off.... like mine where, and Paul aka rstoughy on here, in which case there is a little more involved .

Item 18 in the above diagram is easily replaced, it's the one on the inner flange that's a royal cnut and could leave you looking for a new Centre section of cut, replace and repair.

Top man. I hope you gave the those Taliban scum the full English treatment.

No advice on the exhaust, just wanted to say most people are behind you.

Talking

Ladies, Gents and Dunc ,

Thanks for all the info, advice and support, the cars only done 20k dry miles so the flanges should be ok. I'll replace any shabby bits when I take the old one off.

Just for anyone whos wondering.................

Taliban = AK47, facial hair, jaunty little hat and flip flops.

Tornado GR4 = 500lb Paveway laser guided bomb x 2
Brimstone laser guided rocket x 2
27mm cannon with 105 High explosive rounds

When our boys on the ground come into contact we rock up in the overhead and give Tommy Taliban the good news so to speak.

S**t to be them

Cheers all.
