Default Cups Question?

Hey Up

I've been down my local tire shop asking about Cups, they had a look round there suppliers and offered me some for 169 + vat for fronts, now that seems like a good deal to me, but he said they were M1's but didn;t know what that ment, does anyone know what they are for, would you get them as they are 40 quid cheaper than others he could get hold of. Or do you think it could be a typo and they are N1? M01 is Mercedes AMG Fitment. with those being front engined to would you say they were the same tire as the CSL ones but with a different marking on the side wall?

I have emailed Michelin and am awaiting a reply, want to find out quick as they only had 4 at this price.

Cheers

Ando

Cant helping with the coding but that seems too cheap to be full fat cups. I paid 260 quid for fronts about 3 weeks ago and that was as cheap as I could find after a long search. Good find if they the correct ones though.

Don't think they're making the 'CSL version' of the Cup anymore (?) Need to find someone with stock - good luck with that. I mate of mine struggled recently.

@ Ando , did the outer tyre pattern have a single groove running all the way around the circ?
I need 2 x 18" Cups to make a set of four up again ...should never have let T$ have the other 2

Good news for my mate then, but he was told by several suppliers (inc Protyre) they weren't being made anymore so supply was limited to stock in the channel.

I had a puncture on the way to the ring and the best I could get was the new Mich Super Sport which was a bit like an intermediate. Certainly not a cup tyre, but it was day and night compared to say a PS2.

It got me thinking: should I bin the cups completely and just have one set of Super Sports for track and road. I did a full day at Spa and a full day at the ring with 1 super sport on the back and the rest 3 cups. I'd have to say that I could only feel the difference at Spa, but not at the ring.

If anyone is thinking about this, I suggest that you go and get touchy feely with some Super Sports and try them. At least if it pisses it down on the motorways on the way back from the ring - you don't have to do 60 mph to stop aquaplaning.

The solution to aquaplaning is to go faster and get across the puddle to the dry side quicker !!

And to make numerous mobile phone calls at the same time to avoid you being distracted by the rain....
