Default Roll Cage

Geoff & Matt at ETA Motorsport at Brands Hatch did the work. I must say they did an excellent job, and they very knowledgeable with regards to BM's. I would recommended them, 5 star.

My aim is to build a Track day car which I can use on the road with standard insurance, ½ cages are easier to insure because of the less likelihood of head injuries to the driver and passenger whilst not wearing crash helmets on the road.

Putting in a full cage is too much agro , getting in and out, messes up the dash.

I have come up with a idea from Custom Cages who build full 8 point cages for e46, basically its ½ the package.

I just want protection in case of a roll over. You need some protection when wearing full harnesses, on track days.

I can say that I know Matt & Geoff from ETA, they come with a wealth of knowledge where BMWs are concerned. Cage looks good, how long did it take.

i do not agree. BMW sell the cars as 4 seaters and it is a good selling point for people that buy them as day to day family cars (i am convinced they wouldnt have sold 200 caged cars on 2003/4)

BUT maybe a caged clubsport option would have been nice

They took a couple of weeks to fit the cage and spray it, but they did some other work as well. ie servicing, fixing door lock, solved a light knocking noise which I had from my suspension.

All in a great service.

VERY NICE!!!

Although personally I'd have taken the rear 1/4 panels out or put the OEM M3 item back in or something or at least something that allows easy removal I suppose - you'd never get those panels out now without cutting the roll cage ...

But great looking cage overall.

Personally I think it'd have been nice if BMW offered a club sport bolt in cage for the CSL much like the GT3 for those track junkies ....

i agree, the clubsport package is what should have been optional and i bet in the E92 it would have been an option if they would have gone thru with it
