Default April fool by my BMW dealer?

Went to BMW to pick my car up after a new bumper and bonnet respray (3 months wait for a new bumper!!) Looked good sitting outside when I pulled up....

But upon closer inspection... the splitters are an awful fit

Not knowing anything about how the splitters attach to the bumper can anybody offer any advice on what might be wrong... I have left it with them to rectify never the less.

Also asked them NOT to screw the number plate plinth on which they have gone and done... so they are sorting that for me too

A bit annoyed to say the least.

Fcuk sake mate, thats terrible. Mine fits better than that, and my Dad done it. Come on BMW, up your game would you!!!

I hope my splitters fit better when I get my hands on them.

Can't believe they fitted the number plate plynth 'n all despite you asking them not too.

Why was your car needing a new bumper and painted anyway, if you don't mind me asking?

At least they are sorting it for you anyway, bit of a hassle though.

Had an "off" a few months back so it needed a new bumper and got the rest sprayed at the same time. Was excited about picking her up, now

The agony of no csl is prolonged

That was a terrible fit by BMW - how can they let you have it back looking like that? Do they have no pride in their work?

FFS, surely there's someone who checks these over before the customer see's!

How they gonna get the plate fixed? I got the holes filled but that took a whole bumper respray.

Respray of the bumper I imagine... but knowing them, some grey gaffer tape!

Having 3 sets of splitters in possession I can tell you that might actually be normal some what (for the passenger one at least - the driver side does look poorly fitted).

Each splitter set is paired with a particular bumper - so one set that fits perfectly on a bumper might not fit perfectly on another.

Of the three sets that I have, the original one on the bumper fits the best - perfectly all around.

The used set from Dave1 fits good on one side, but poorly on the other (i.e. it is slightly too short)

The new set that I have is actually a late 2008 mould and I've noticed that it's made by a different supplier for BMW - the design is also slightly different (this set I purchased off ebay from BMW dealership). The top section that wedges into the bumper is shorter and lower (barely catches - we are talking a good 3mm shorter here) and the weave slightly angled. This set has a funny fitment - it is slightly short on the end like pictured above and doesn't fit as well on one side.

I'd ask the dealer for another set if this one won't fit properly.

Thanks for the replies guys...

Good news is they are ordering a new bumper/splitters to resolve the problem... And am getting the car back in the meantime (it might take another 3 months for the bumper to turn up )
