Default Advice please guys

Im close to being able to afford a CSL at last and ive seen a few that interest me. Marks (csl-mba) is the best priced but i prefer Silver grey and the mileage is a bit high as im worried about depreciation.

Ive seen 2 others on pistonheads and wondered if they are anyones on here?

This one is reasonably priced but the pictures make it look dull and not looked after. The alloys are filthy......... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/802723.htm

This one again is reasonably priced. Other pictures the guy has sent me shows one of the alloys to be badly scraped. Is it a lot to get an alloy refurbished.....

Hope ive not offended anyone on here if its their car! Any input would be much appreciated as its taken me ages to save for one and i want to make sure ive got a good one... Cheers

In the first ad, it mentioned "Recieved 10 out of 10 on Csl website" ??? Does it mean the csl as a car got a 10/10 on a car website or was it just rated 10/10 on a forum website I wonder? I must admit, if I was ever going to sell mine, not that I am, but if I did, I would make it look immaculate.

Second one, - dont you just love baby forces sale.... whats wrong with a child seat in the back like mine???? lol

Sorry not much help but just thinking out loud.

If you have any worries about that, if it were me, I would wait until one comes up for sale that you think is spot on and you don't have any concerns about and you are happy with all aspects of the ad and the look of the car. Just to add, from what I know now, I personally would buy a csl from someone I knew from a forum so I knew the car and its history and how it was looked after.

The first has been on sale for a long time. The advert says a couple of days but I remember it from before Christmas. It might be fine but I'd check that one with a fine toothcomb.

The second is new, never seen it before. Alloys do get scraped very easily so don't worry too much. I believe CSL alloys are quite easy to refurb (?) compared to std 18" and 19" M3 alloys?

They both look alright to me tbh.

Best idea is to go and have a look at them. Check for run in service and FSH. Ask what warranty work the cars had too. A car with more having been done to me means that the owner is an enthuasiast = good thing.

Wheels are approx £50 / wheel for refurb, and you can add warranty for under a £k if needs be.

Thanks guys and girls ! One is about 20 miles from me and the other is about 300 miles so ill probably be going to view the nearest. If an alloys only £50 to refurb then thats not a worry if the wheels are a bit kerbed. Is there anything in particular to check for with the gearbox etc? Never driven one so not sure how the gearbox should feel/sound.....

Have you ever driven SMG? (ever been in a CSL?)

There's not much to check really in terms of the gear box, I suspect you'll think the clutch is slurry (as I did, and many others on your first drive) but its really the norm.

Suggestions for driving - Sport on (doesnt switch safety features off), S3 for gear changes, and use the paddles. Make sure you use full throttle at least once past 3k rpm with sport on.

You'll come back £30k poorer mind...

the reason the first one is cheap is due to the guys location, he is at the VERY top of scotland in other words buying a car from Spain would be easier Sorry to all u scot's!

could be other reasons but i spoke to the guy originally and all sounded fine over the phone. once i discovered where he was i had to forget about it. imagine travelling for 11 hours to find it was not as you expected

second car must be new as i have not come across it before and looks a good price for the mileage.

good luck!
