Default Missed gear

Driving along today, changed from 3rd to 4th and it never engaged gear, just had the sound of not quite meshed gear teeth rubbing on each other. Changed straight up to 5th and all was fine.

Gave the box a few runs from 1st to 6th and all worked ok.

Ideas?

Not sure on this one. It's normally the hydraulic/elecric side of SMG that fails. The internals of the box seem to last forever. Puzzled ??

It's the first glitch that's happened with it.

Driving for approx one hour afterwards with no problems.

Oh dear

Can't recall cause but if you don't get it fixed mesh gets ruined.

I've got a YT vid of mine crunching at Donny back in the days BMW would give you a new gearbox.

Mine also has occasionally done this, it is going into Elms as the cog of doom recently came on as well (but went off straight away with a ignition on/off reset). Hopefully the ECU will have logged the error for them to diagnose, as it is pretty random when it does it (as in hot or cold).

I have also occasionally had the SMG gear indicator flash for a few seconds when the car is first started, so I hope it is just the relay.

Gareth will sort it Brian.....

Hope the salmon relay does the trick.

As shim said mechanical noises could prove to be something coming down the track.

The GP has sold giving me a few quid spare!

Have a feeling some might be getting invested into sorting out potential problems and also tarting up another car I have knocking about. i.e Cesil

Shame Bartletts don't do accommodation
