Default Anyone removed the Aircon?

Mine has the climate, but i never use aircon ever. When i stripped my last M3, i realised that the compressor is on its own belt, so easy to remove. And all the pipes and condenser are easy to remove, and re-attach if needed (coming to sell etc)

So anyone done it? Just more to free up the engine bay a tad, and to add 100bhp

I've thought about doing it as with everything removed you can shed 40 ibs in weight.

Exactly. I would want to be able to put it all back in, well just for resale. But I'm sure it would be easy enough. Or just get some ice cubes

The aircon would be the last thing I removed.

If you want to shed some weight & make the car sound & feel totally different, strip out the rear seats, boot carpet/ floor & all boot trim.
I did mine when it went in for the floor pan repair & the car sounded mental.

+1

I think you'd regret, particularly on euro trips !

Other ways to extract the weight.. As per above, stereo, diet !

40lbs is too much IMO, I recall it being 12KG, unless you are planning on removing the heater matrix as well.

Keep it, there is a reason why non aircon cars are cheaper than ones that have it.
