Question Smashed csl bumper

Hi chaps,
Recently had a run in with what I think was a hare .And have cracked my bumper ,splitter ,plastic under tray and bottom part of radiator . Some of my part names may not be quite right (sorry) .Does any of you guys know if these parts are easily sourced or even repaired (especially bumper)or should I just see if my insurance would cover it ? Any advice would be really appreciated .

Both parts look easily repairable - especially the bumper, that's bugger all damage.

The splitter will be a little harder and won't look the same, but usable.

Plastic trays and arch liners are easily sourced.

If covered by insurance get a new bumper and splitter, but keep the damaged one and repair it. The brilliance of Carbon Fibre is that it is easily repairable.

I bought the following from a member on here and repaired it locally ...

Paint peeled back to survey the damage:

A little more serious than we thought, but we got on with it:

Wet lay using the same carbon fiber tweel as the original with 2 part epoxy ... (autoclave hire time was just too expensive to warrant that type of repair, so a wet lay up was used instead - just as strong and not much weight gained on such a small area)

Sanding it down:

Like it was never damaged almost:

Priming:

Painted:

The finish product:

Next to the original

Hi nz_m3,
Your bumper repair looks amazing .thankyou so so much for your advice and knowledge .I started looking at the cost of new bumpers and was getting concerned of the costs to replace .I think my next job is to find a carbon fibre fabricator .

thanks again

Trust me, it's worth the trip to Simpson's. They can do this repair very well. I'd much prefer/trust someone with extensive knowledge of CSL's who is also recommended by the CSL community at large.

You could always wrap it up and courier it to Simpsons. If you get stuck I can always send this for you as you look local to me. Should cost around £20.

I'm in no way volunteering, just adding they can be repair quite easily .
I've worked on front bumpers before and this one had similar damage to yours on same side so thought I'd share. Construction was made to the very flimsy and fragile support that hold the splitters in as this had broken off. As Tom has mentioned splitter could be repaired but it would be noticeable due to extent of damage. May be easier to bite the bullet and buy a new one.

No before pics, only some of me fabricating a template out of card of the non-damaged side to duplicate for the newly repaired side, trimming to shape/ drilling holes for the plastic rivets to pass through - securing the splitter and allowing it to be seated in its original position.

Front splitter/s before repair.

After.

I also removed the number plate holes whilst at it.
