Thanks for the replies chaps
Castrol edge it is then

Off at a major tangent......

Is it definately correct that the engine in the CSL is majorly different to that of a standard M3??
Other than the obvious, cams , intake mapping etc, is the actual engine itself built any differently?
What i am getting at is is, ythe csl has to have inspection1 / inspection 2 as part of the routine service schedule, each of which can cost anywhere between £700=£1000 a pop, when i queried why the standard M3 didnt require this level of cost in a service i was told "because its a race engine" and the valve clearances need checking , re shimming etc.
So have BMW built it so differently from a normal M3, a mate had an E46 M3, did over 20,000 miles in it, the most a service ever cost him was £400.
Is it really required or is it a cost born of the assumption that anyone with the money to own a CSL, would not question a different service price plan.
Discuss
Cheers, Nick

I am coming up for an Insp II, and I have been doing some ringing around on prices from the Stealers.

They start at £1250, which seems to be a standard figure for some time now.

The best I had found was Malton BMW, in Malton nr York, who quoted me £700, which is nice.

HOWEVER.....................

I have just found a dealer, more local to me who have quoted me £500!!!!!

It looks like the Stealers are feeling the pinch on servicing as well as sales and are slashing their prices to get our buisness. Happy days.

The E46 M3 has the same service schedule as a CSL. Your mate maybe just had an Inspection I, its slightly cheaper than an InspII.

As far as Im aware, the service (what done) is exactly the same.

Right, I have found what I have got, but it appears to be the standard Insp II service sheet, which all makes standard reading.

Sorry lads, thought I had more.

yes mate its all pretty straight forward.and if i do it myself i A. know it has been done and B. know it's been done properly

mind you i did get a friend in the trade who has an mot station to do the rear tca bushes so he could swear and cut his knuckles while i point and laugh but then i discovered they were brand new! but it still felt like it had rear wheel steering! limiter kit cured that.
