I'm at Brands tomorrow in the CSL. I'll be sure to report back just how slow a CSL can be made to go ;-)

whacked some cups on today. I hope that they get significantly better when scrubbed in and warmed up because on the road going home I thought my DSC light had short circuited with the indicators !

6th to 2nd. What you can't see in the photo is the Shirmer car in the lead by 2 seconds already!

heh indeed. Car returned safely home, albeit the brakes are still in the same naff state as they were after snetterton.

Had a big vbox FAIL - because mine doesn't have a cigarette power lead I borrowed a friends. Spent half an hour tucking it away nicely in the glovebox, upgraded his firmware and did a nice scene for Brands.

"Sorry, no sucker mounts"

ah. bugger. So I have some data, just no video.

First time I've done Brands (well technically the 2nd, but that was like 15 years ago!)

At lunch I pulled the SD card out and had a quick look, 57s.

In the afternoon I had some tuition, picking up some racing lines around druids and mclaren, plus more confidence in the car/tyres. Whether that translated to better times or not - who knows. Can't remember whether I put the sd card back in and haven't had a chance to check.

A number of offs at paddock hill (unsurprisingly!) and one guy had a reasonable roll, naff end to his trackday. Someone might know him, a pair of e36 m3s who were "driving competitively" shall we say. Hence the off no doubt.

There's another thread on here regarding cup tyres and their wear vs slicks. Well I've done around 60% on a brand new set of cups and I spent a fair amount of the day in other peoples' cars. My judgement is that they are not a hard wearing tyre at all, very similar in wear rate to R888. They also sound terrible once they've picked up rubber and show the signs of track wear. Might be exaggerated at brands due to its size/corners.

They are also not a tyre for learning RWD control. By the time the rear is letting go you're doing some decent speeds. Ying-Yang Kangalangs for that I think.

great day, no issues, conversely we got repeatedly black flagged in the MX5 for hanging the tail out :D

I agree with this, and Tino (TMAQ) had the same issue when were at Brands (Indy) back in the summer, exiting the last corner onto the pit straight they sounded fooking shot which wasn't nice!
