Arrow Hello to new members

Hi CSL register members.

I wanted to introduce myself and to seek your esteemed counsel on a few CSL points if I may. Thanks in advance for taking a look at my post.

Since I sold my Honda NSX last year I have been looking for another "sensible" supercar. The CSL is the only choice. But I dont need to tell you guys that.

I have been to see a few and it wont be long till I have one on the drive.

So enough about me, time for some CSL stuff. As it is better to give than to receive. Here is my one bit of info I (a non CLS owner at the moment) can offer. I commissioned one Mr Nick Johnson to look at the CSL on piston heads with Dave Fox cars (the one with all the Thorney Motorsport mods). His verdict: no different to the standard car, so £8k down the drain then! Decided not to buy that one.

Here is where I need your help:

1 I am in the market for a CSL number plate. Any one selling?
2 I am in the market for an outdoor cover. Any one selling? Can you keep a CSL outside? I dont have a choice.
3 I am in the market for a CSL (this should have been number 1 now I think about it, but I reckon I am going to buy one I have seen). However, anyone selling one with about 30,000 miles on it then am interested.
4 Any suggestions for insurance? Someone told me Aon, but I will try Adrian Flux too.
5 I am in the market for a Grouppe M style exhaust. Anyone selling anything particularly fruity. In an ideal world it would be a Capristo, but alas they dont make them for the CSL.

Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks again.

PS I bet these questions have been asked before. I will have a search around the forum too.

Welcome Will and good luck with your search

WRT insurance, Admiral was best for me when my car was standard, now Competition Car Insurance is the best as my car is modified and is tracked.

You can get a BMW indoor and outdoor cover for the M3/M3 CSL.

Welcome 'Newbie', you'll find a wealth of information on here and DuncanR! lol

Aye, some banter too.

I had a GruppeM and imho it took away from the Induction noise that makes the CSL what it is. CSLGirl will say otherwise, but it did sound absolutely awesome when on full chat.

Yeah, the CSL can live outdoors, of course. Mine spends the occasional night outside but I have to admit, I sleep better when she's indoors.

Insurance, I'm with Admiral and every renewal I shop about and in 4 years of ownership, no one has come close in terms of cheapness and level of cover.

Enjoy the hunt either way, it's all part of the fun as I'm sure you know. Prices seem to have bottomed out, some might say they're creeping northwards.

All 'ra best!

I agree with you Baz, the gruppem does take away the distinctive csl induction noise.

Good luck on your search Newbie

"Can you keep a CSL outside?"

Hell no!

The CSL was designed and built in 2002/2003 long before they invented the chemicals required to protect paint and surfaces against such conditions as wind, rain, snow etc...etc... Outside the CSL will quite literally disolve. Saying that, mine's survived 7 years now but I guess I'm just lucky...

Whoever said sarcasm was the lowest form of wit?

Hi

Thanks for the warm welcome. This is the beauty I have my eye on.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1421277.htm

I will give admiral a call and look out a cover. What do you think about this one

http://www.carcoverzone.co.uk/monsoo...ble-p-122.html

How necessary are the AP breaks for nornal road use?

I have even found a CSL plate. Woo Hoo.

Cheers

Will
