As said above,make sure the flap is in the closed position before you plug it all back in.I put mine back on this week after 18 months with it off,just to make sure it was all working.

The method of installation was as follows.
Actuator not fitted, ignition on, allowed the thing to spin as it came to life then fitted it, its a funny fit, as the keyway doesn't quite align. The actuator always does seem to spin the same way when the ignition is on, as if its trying to close the flap to start with.

can confirm the correct operation of the actuator, if its not attached to the airflap but wired in, when you turn the ignition on? Tying not to shell out a further £200 + to BMW to still have a broken flap ;0(

Another question / thought is, other that the actuator failing, as in it will not physically spin, what else could stop the flap operating?
