Various weights (bolts, wheels, spacers etc)
Today I got some pics of various stuff.
I think it's good to know the weights. To start with, here is the weight of an HR 12mm spacer for the CSL. 401g quite heavy Here is a BBS bolt (normal length, I would say 2mm longer threads that OEM BMW bolts). 78g - heavy compared to the OEM ones Here is the OEM BMW bolt. 67g Here is a longer bolt from Turner Motorsport (+15mm). 77g // lighter than the BBS bolts. Here is the engine rocker cover. 1027g No one quotes how heavy are these carbon covers that are being sold everywhere. As far as I am concerned, the carbon should be lighter to justify the money otherwise it's just pointless to replace it. Cheeky detail. The 'gold' 3d-effect BBS wheel caps from the BBS RS-GT are heavier than the carbon look of the BBS CH. 40g vs 33g So I removed the heavy gold ones and put the carbon look ones in my RS-GTs. Here is the BBS RS-GT 19 x 8.5J with 245/35/19 Hankook tyres. 20.2kg I believe they will be lighter with cups The BBS RS-GT 19 x 10J with 275/30/19 Hankook tyres. 21.7kg The BBS CH 19 x 8.5J with 235/35/19 Vredestein winter tyres. 21.7kg Note that these winter tyres are very light, still the RS-GT is 1.5kg lighter with significantly heavier tyres (also 245/35 on the RS-GTs). The BBS CH 19 x 10J with 265/30/19 Vredestein winter tyres. 23.2kg Again the winter tyres are light and the RS-GT is 1.5kg lighter with heavier/bigger tyres. |

Whilst marginally interesting I cannot help that you either have too much time on your hands or are single perhaps divorced or soon to be... . My wife thinks that I am obsessed with my cars but I told her I could have someone on the side instead. She did not follow that arguement .
Anyway I am going to point her to this post on the 'nerdy site' and hope that she sees I am 'normal' after all . Pip Ps Anything on wet and dry weights of the car? |

Some time ago I weighted my CSL on a scale. Full tank and nothing taken out (I have the mobility kit, fire extinguisher etc) 1420kg .
That is with AP racing front/rear and SS race lightweight backbox. Last edited by alexk; 12-05-2020 at 10:09 AM. |

I have never gone to the extreme of weighing wheel bolts but certainly interesting.
Although OEM bolts at 67g = 1.34kg per set of 20x, I cant see why some go as far as buying aluminium open ended lugs for wheel studs, substituting safety with a few grams saving only. I also have plenty of data for various parts which were measured when they were all removed permanently. soon adds up! |

I can't agree more Alex. It just doesn't make sense when there are other alternatives to save weight.
I guess you know the Poggipolini titanium bolts (the Gallardo Superleggera has these). They are nice but there are better things to spend 1200 EUR. |

More weights coming.
An Eibach 12mm spacer, 477g It is 76g heavier than the H&R 12mm spacer ! So if you have to choose between the two of them, buy the H&R ones !!! Here is an H&R 20mm spacer (with the extra bolts). Together with the extra bolts 1037g That's heavy ! Without the bolts 805g The bolts on their own 231g Now I need to get the Turner motorsport spacers and weight them. |

Alex, as I promised recently - below is some of the data I collected whilst I put mine on a diet. Some I have refrained from posting as I cannot confirm an accurate weight and some of which would have not been useful for others to know.
REAR SEATS Rear Backrest - 6.7kg + 3.8kg = 10.5kg Rear Cushion/ Hardware - 7kg + 0.7kg = 7.7kg Rear Headrest - 0.55kg x 2 = 1.1kg Rear Bolters - 1kg x 2 = 2kg Rear Matts - 0.35kg x 2 = 0.7kg Rear Speakers/ Carriers - 0.55kg x 2 = 1.1kg Rear Seatbelts - 0.85kg x 2 = 1.7kg TOTAL Saving: 24.8kg (54.7lbs) BOOT Triangle/ Rear Trays/ First Aid kit = 2.3kg Tyre Pump/ Foam Carrier = 3.4kg Boot Board = 2.2kg Boot Liner x3 (1.1kg + 0.7kg + 0.7kg) = 2.5kg Boot Sound Deadener x1 = 3kg Boots Lights x2 = 0.2kg TOTAL Saving: 13.6kg (29.98lbs) BATTERY OEM Battery - 15.6kg / Braille Lightweight - 7.7kg TOTAL Saving: 7.9kg (17.4lbs) SUSPENSION OEM Suspension – 25.2kg / Nitron – 17.2kg TOTAL Saving: 8kg (17.64lbs) EXHAUST OEM Backbox – 25.4kg/ Supersprint Lightweight Race – 11.5kg TOTAL Saving: 13.9kg (30.64lbs) |

Yes, I have OEM CSL Brake weights but removed from the list because I do not have AP Racing to compare.
