I don't know if you've ever had warranty work done but they don't inspect your service book. In my experience, they are only too happy to carry out the work no questions asked.

Just buy one!
Barry, they do check if the spend on warranty is a big one.......take it from me.

Doesn't it become a non issues now though, what with them coming to 10 years aren't bmw going to say see u later anyway or is 100k? Is full disclosure upfront a way round it?

Is the bmw one worth it over say the warranty direct one?

Think you are right about owners of 60k motors not being too worried!

Fair enough, maybe for big claims but could they actually deny a claim because a service that was done 10 years ago was 1k miles late. Bolloxs

Maybe not but if your paying top money for a car you want the service history to be spot on? 1000 miles over, why would anyone be so daft

+ resale your gunna get the odd person who wouldn't want the car, I wouldnt buy one without the correct SH, even mega low miles I would want it done every two years

I don't know, that's the problem, I guess it would be dealt with on an individual basis. I would have thought having a running in service 2,3 or 4 times the required mileage would be frowned upon more than a oil service 1 or 2k over. Its all about whether they can attribute the fault to the poor service history.

This is spot on. The main issue with the cars I have looked at with poor service history is that they have been priced the same as a car with a perfect service history.

I would consider a car with less than perfect history or even maybe a late running service, but it would have to be priced accordingly, otherwise I will wait for a car with perfect history and pay the going rate for the car.

While I am obviously extremely new here, if I may venture an opinion...

As CSLs become more "classic", the service history will get less and less relevant. To use an extreme example, the service history on a 2.7RS is basically irrelevant and the cars are sold on condition (assuming cars have equal provenance and are what they appear to be rather than a replica/ringer). Again, once more cars fall out of factory warranty schemes, then you buy on condition. A FBMWSH is a good pointer but is it any better than a car with a stack of bills from say Munich Legends? Just a thought.

BTW, I am another who is starting to look for a CSL - to replace a daily 944T and accompany a 911 and an X5. Been lurking for a little while.
