Seeing as it's been ages since I posted here I may as well do some shameless promotion for the series I race in. It's called the Nippon Challenge and is open to pretty much anything Japanese or Asian within the weight and power limits. Despite this the racing is close, as you can see from the video below of the opening round at Pembrey. The car that won this race is barely modified from standard running c280 Bhp, has been built and run on a very tight budget, and he still wins races. Don't you just hate some people?
I should say, my car is also a Nissan 200SX, running exactly 300 Bhp and about the same amount of torque. It is far from standard and has had 6 years worth of development work on it. It's now much faster than the race above thanks to some surprisingly effective aero parts as demonstrated below: |

You guys made any decisions yet?
Im just starting to look at this. Ideally id want to split the driving / cost with my brother. Any of you looked at superkarts? it looks mental. Not that much info on MX5's but the youtube videos look great. especially in the wet. I just get the impression nippon and trackday will get very expensive? Mx5 stikes me as cheap entry? S2000 in nippon/trackday trophy might be good fun. light, open, sounds great, cheap, fast and good for trackdays outside of racing.

Barry and I have a plan for 2013-2014 (money dependant)
Idea is to take a couple of races late 2013, rented cars, and maybe build mx5s for 2014 season. Jan-Mar 2014 will be winter testing.

I maybe up for a go at MX5's if you guys are giving it a bash! Need to do something & the thought of rubbing all the paint off your doors is appealing

Does anyone know the pricing and structure of the mx5 series? their website isnt really that good.
Also need to consider if there is a control tyre, do people use new every race / qualy etc. MX5 series looks like serious racing. nippong and trackday troph looks more entry level however id imagine the costs are more. Any other one make series? BMW compact based? S2000 or rx8 are cheap, rwd, powerful enough... |
