I've ran the CSL over winter, not as a DD, but with a set of Vredestein's tires and had no probs.

You could always buy a decent set of CSL reps(circ £550) for the winter and keep the cups for summer on the proper wheels. I haven't got round to changing the Cups this winter and still had no problems in heavy down pours. Wouldn't fancy tackling any snow in them though

The tyres are excellent on the snow and also have done many fast sessions in Monza (with 0 degrees temperature).
I run stock CSL dimensions 235/265.

You can go as low as 18" wheels on the CSL.
The front brakes will not clear 17" wheels.

Superb experience last year, makes it genuinely usable out in the sticks and climbed up some hairpins in the Peak District without an issue. Fun.

I've also got a set of M3 18s that I put on for the winter. Trouble is they have nearly worn out PS2s on at the moment, I need to buy some winter tyres.

This was my folk's back garden south of Bristol this AM.

And it was -1 in Notts. So I put the winters on today. Look rubbish, but very practical.
