That was a dashboard revision in Sep 03 - they changed the A to a D and the 0 to an N

edit: must read threads more carefully as Brycey already posted this

Mine is an Aug 03 car so I just missed that one. Not that I'm bothered to be honest, but always nice to learn something new!

You'd need a new display in the dash for that.

The elements in the gear display LCD on mine are in the following pattern:

_
| |
_
|\|
_

If that makes any sense? It couldn't display an N ever.

Also the A & D thing is hard coded to the dash display too - have a look at the little lcd display elements in the SMG lever section of the display - hardcoded to say A or D depending on version.

^ Makes sense, thanks.

So when Engleberts in 'A' he is in automatic, and it should change up through the gears itself.

Obviously got a problem somewhere.

There are 2 places it can show the A - in the SMG lever display that shows what mode will be selected if you move the lever over to the right will show S if you are in auto and A if you are in sequential, in addition there is a little A that shows to the bottom right of the gear number if you are in auto.
