Traction settings on track

Personally all off wet or dry and S6, traction control is best done with your right hoof

What do they gain from DSC being OFF in dry - is it purely eliminating the TC that can kick in between gear-shifts in a straight line, or is it something else?

Ok, but if you crash in the rain with DSC OFF it'll possibly be much less of an incident than if you crash in the dry with DSC OFF - that was my point when asking the question. In the dry speeds are much higher, the transition between grip and loss of grip (and vice-versa) is more sudden and violent, and generally it's a lot more tricky! So if someone is happy they can deal with that situation in the dry they should be completely confident in the wet, no?

I was going to post the same topic up. Now answers my question too.

I questioned myself last weekend on a t/day what traction mode to run in and does the S6 make it a faster change.

Is S6 a quicker change than S5 or is it the same but is the mode you have to set to enable you to do launch control?

I have tried both in comparison and cant see a difference in speed. S6 being the renowned 0.08s Gear change?

I know what your saying but the factor that rain introduces is unpredictability. Loss of grip even if at slower speeds can happen at various what may seem different situations. Running on Cups you can get one minute good grip on wet track with hot tyres then next corner no grip with some standing water. Then like at Sillystone the track with just a little rain can become a skid pan with all the race rubber down or even with the risk of hitting some apex or exit paint!!!

On a dry track I can build up during the day my knowledge of the track, my suspension settings and tyre pressure and speeds. The consequence of a big off does increase but it becomes less of a lottery and more under my control, well at least in my mind.

IMVHO I think the car feels quicker with DSC off - even when using the M Track mode you can feel it cutting in without it lighting up the dash board. Saying that I generally use M track mode but when you want to do a bit of drifting then DSC off obviously.

without a doubt the car will be quicker with DSC off. I reckon on most UK tracks on a dry day you will gain up to half a sec or more.

Turn DSC off and then try full bore S5 changes and swap to S6 immediately and repeat. S6 is definitely faster....

I turn it all off, its pointless in my view, just kills the brakes. I always wonder why people treat wet conditions with such caution? Breakaway is slower to progress, giving more warning and you're going slower in the first place.

The CSL is a viceless car, its the nature of a front engined RWD... M-Track is a gimmick IMO.
