Trackdays - Essential Kit & Do's / Don'ts

Mods - any chance we can do a sticky thread on the above subject.

What needs to be taken / differences between coutries etc / legal requirements for driving in Europe etc..looking at previous threads, seems to be (in no particular order):

• Hi Viz vest (essential)
• First Aid Kit (essential)
• Fire Extinguisher (is this still a legal req in Europe ??)
• Triangle reflector (essential)
• Gloves (essential)
• Helmet (hire at track or buy / essential)
• 1 litre of Oil (optional)
• Insurance (type? / recommendations)
• Driving licence
• Breakdown cover (if without BMW Warranty / breakdown)
• Additional brake pads ? (how much do standards hurt on track days ?)
• Wheels / Cups (optional)
• Ensure Tow eye on car
• Ensure noise within limits

Do you blank number plates ?
Do you tape up front lights ?
Any tips on etiquette ?
