Trackdays - Essential Kit & Do's / Don'ts
Mods - any chance we can do a sticky thread on the above subject.
What needs to be taken / differences between coutries etc / legal requirements for driving in Europe etc..looking at previous threads, seems to be (in no particular order):
Do you tape up front lights ? Any tips on etiquette ? What else is should be on there ? Any useful links ? Cheers  |
Yanto in particular for driving the Ring, a few words of German can come in quite handy.
arschloch = asshole fotze = womans genital area aka as in James Hunt Fick dich = Fook you Fick dich, Wichser = Fook you wanker Wichser = you guessed it, wanker !:wanker: der abschaum der menschlichen gesellschaft = the scum of the earth (this one doesnt really roll off the tongue that well, so you may want to write it down and use it in the pits rather than whilst overtaking down through the foxhole !):hahaha: On a more useful note, take registration doc/proof of ownership with you. You can tape up number plate at a trackday but sadly not at the Ring as its of course still a Pubic Toll road. Some of the more experienced Ring Stars will soon fill this thread will all manner of information ! What you have to remember about the Ring is, that anything you take down with you in the car, that you dont want to drive around the Ring with, needs to be left in a hire car if you have one, with a mate who isnt driving, or in the case of small children just tie em to a tree in the car park with some water and a packet of wine gums ! seemple ! |
Torque wrench. I've heard more than a few stories of loose wheels on or after TD's!
Good, light jack. Helps if it's low, especially if your car is. ;) Basic tools - for pad/wheel changes, etc. (Rob, don't forget tools for your airbox :hahaha: ) Documents when travelling in Europe - insurance, reg doc, etc. |
Who crams in a second set of wheels for trackdays into their CSL!? lol
I'll be going on PS2's and hopefully coming back on them aswell! :hahaha: :bigcry: |
Extra wheels no probs in the CSL. Seats down, wheel bags some straps to keep it all under control and your away.
I don't bother much now though. Cups all the time from Spring for me.:smokin: |
I'm PS2's due to winter use mate :( lol Don't have a spare set anyway but was considering it...
I got a set of 18'' Rally wheels for my Escos in the back of my old M3, but only just! |
ditch the standard brakes:whistle:
|
I bought 4 x 10J X 18" BBS wheels with cups on back with me last time, and that was a squeeze to get them in around the rollcage ! travelled back with one strapped in the passenger seat !
Anyone thinking of doing the Ring often could always get their spare set down there somehow, and then store them with someone for the season. Use the same guesthouse regular and see if they will store them in their garage !!:supz: Me thinks I need to be looking for 2 spare rims as those 10J's dont fit on the front, and only just fit on the rear with 10mm spacers, but then again, why would you want 10" on the front? I reckon thats putting a lot more excess load into everything, and my car is still down with Thorney getting its steering rack replaced ! The question is, will i look a right cock with 2 x BBS 10J 18" on the rear, and 2 x CSL 19" on the front ? and more to the point will it work? T$ arent you running with CLS rears on the front ? .. was that a secret ??;) |
i either take one spare tyre with rim (just in case) or now two rears for the front that act as spares - only the pink possy take road sets and track sets
missed items for the list

Good thinking on the Tyre gauge though mate, I'm gonna get sorted some Pagid Pads, braided lines and uprated fluid ready for this  |
