Default 'Ring 24hr

Just wondered if anyone was heading over to watch the Nurburgring 24hr?

Or indeed anyone with any tips for a 24hr ring virgin...so to speak.
Planning on just driving there without tickets, staying in hotel Sun-Weds, which will hopefully be enough time to figure out somewhere for about 5 of us to camp Weds-Mon.
Any tips on tickets needed, where to camp, where to watch and essential items to take, massively appreciated.

If you havent booked anywhere yet you may struggle and camping maybe your only option. Some hotels get booked up years in advance by regulars and the F1 Crew in places like the Dorint and Lindner.

I camped last year at Mullenbach which I found to be the best place offering shower and toilet facilities on site but make sure to find a space situated close to them otherwise it can be a pain getting to and from.

Turning up on the day and paying for a spot is fine but expect to a small and less desired place.
The locals turn up up to a week before to reserve their usual spaces and seem to take over the campsite with no rules as such as to how much space they can take, barricading their area with a wall of cars etc...

Mullenbach Campsite map here. Situated at the tail of the GP circuit.

Camping is dead cheap and if there is a group of you it can be great, and if the weather is good to you it'll be a bonus.
They offer electricity on site too for a few Euros a day which is great but take your own extension lead, as long as you have (25-50m if you are not close to the power).

Also a few examples of what to expect from some of Ze more serious Germans:

Tickets for the weekend can also be brought on the day no problem.

If you want to get around various viewing points of the track there is a bus that collects every half and hour or hour right outside the camp site.

I hope that helped a little.

I will be going there for the weekend all going to plan. I haven't booked the campsite yet but there are a few friends who will be coming from trips in Munich and Stuttgart who will be joining me. Hope to have all booked up this week!

Try these two hotels afap:

Nearby Ettringen the Parkhotel am Schloss: http://www.parkhotel-am-schloss.de/ or this in Langenfeld: http://www.eifelgasthaus-zur-krone.de/ Both speak English. They are not to near for the trouble and not to far from Nürburg (arround 10km away)

Cheers acidace and conleth
Booked in at the TierGarten Sun-Weds, which will hopefully give me enough time to:
a: find the campsite nearest to track
b: bagsy enough space in it for 7 thirsty northerners who arrive Weds. Using only 1 car and 1 tent to claim space.

Found the perfect camping chair for it as well: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5267/...e059f7c3b4.jpg
