performance friction disks
sorry to keep harping on about brakes but I'm on mission
I've had a lot of grief trying to service an AP kit I bought, whilst its getting done I have put all my focus on sorting out the disks and trying to get matching fronts and rears. I have PF's front and rear at the moment with a 4 piston caliper kit which has been superb but I wanted to try the AP set up and also try the larger front disk. So AP to PF up front is no problem, its the rears that are. The PF rear disks are a separate bell to the disk (I believe PF are the only people who do this) so they are really light and the disks are immense to make it an even better set up. The only trouble is being a tart I would like matching front and rear design. The AP to PF front is a grooved type and PF only do a dimpled rear, I thought I had found an alternative in Stoptech but when they came through they were not an alloy bell with separate disk set up, they also weighed a tonne, more than OEM disks I emailed PF, thinking, surely they must do the rears in grooved and got this response You are correct that the PFC replacement disc for the AP package is 356.32.0054.03/04. The price of these are £251.62 each plus VAT and carriage. Have you already purchased the AP package? If not we could provide a PFC big brake (355mm disc and ZR31 calliper) kit. 328.20.0050.07/09 is the slotted disc version of the dimpled disc you currently have fitted to the rear of your car. However we do not currently have stock of this and due to no recent demand there are no immediate plans to manufacture more, I'm very sorry. Kind Regards Richard Groundsell Technical Sales Engineer - Performance Friction Europe Its due to demand There's a fair few AP kits out there, with more than a few PF upgrades, I cant believe no one else wants a better/lighter disk for the rears with the aesthetics to match.... am I asking too much.... a quick over view of the disks http://www.hmsmotorsport.com/store/b...3-direct-drive surely there's enough M3 drivers inc CSL's who would want the option?? any forum sponsors / CSL cup car prep specialist want to take some stock and ask PF if they can sort ??? |

if they were available i would buy them next time but trouble is they dont wear very fast so demand is limited for anything else other than standard BMW drilled.
I fitted AP slotted rear discs when i fitted my rear callipers (purely aesthetic reasons) AP rears were earlier this year £194.09 + vat (before discount). PF would need to be around this mark including bells |

When BMW rear disks can be had for about £75 each and are semi floating, well made and last for ages why would anyone bother with anything else?

I thought you was bit of motorsport geek, where speed rules over looks The BMW rear discs are superior to the ap ones, and you don't get the brake pad squeal when used rs29 as you do with ap's |
