I'm all wet...
Went to fit a new trickle charger today and noticed some water in the battery well.
On further investigation, the whole boot was soaking. Took everything out and found a pool of water in the 'spare wheel' well. There was also water on the lefthand side of the boot under the plastic tray that holds the first aid kit. I drove it back to Dorset yesterday in the pissing rain, but having taken the battery cage out, looking at the nuts (ooo err missus) it looks like they've been sat in water for a while. I dried everything out with blue paper towel, towels and sponges and the car's now garaged (it was previously kept on the street). The question is, where's the water coming from? I'm thinking there may be a blocked drain hole somewhere, but i'm buggered if i can see anything. Any thoughts? |

Check boot seal
Check your subfloor for cracks (big ones)

I had a similar issue a few years ago:
http://www.cslregister.com/forum/sho...?t=2968&page=2 I never resolved what actually caused it. I simply cleaned around the rubber seals and the problem has not occurred since

Hi,
The water runs down the 'boot' lid channel recess where there are some rubber type groumets that can leak badly, also the seal on the top of rear light sometimes lets the water in or in my case, actually filled the light up. Regards, The Gorilla. |

I would go for possibly perished boot seal or lights too as Gorilla has said.
I had a similar issue on an e30. Pip |
