Tedious tyre dilemma
I've got a set of E46 M3 18" wheels that I tend to use in the winter as the CSL wheels are such a PITA to clean. These wheels have got PS2s on at the moment, but the rears are worn out and the front set is probably 6 years old at least. So I need to either
- Buy two new rear PS2s for about £450-500 - Buy a set of 4 new mid-range tyres (Falkens or something) for about £500 - Buy a set of 4 winter tyres for £600+ Since I live in the SE, it doesn't really get that cold, and I can avoid using the car in snow most of the time, the winter tyres seem like overkill. So the choice seems to be more about two rear PS2s vs. four Falkens or similar. Any words of wisdom from the reg ? And if anyone has a pair of half-decent 255/40/18 PS2s that would be handy...

Just buy 2 x Michelin Super Sport to replace the worn rears.
I have had SS on my front axle with older PS2s on my rear axle for 18 months and have driven two European jaunts as well as some laps of the Ring too. The car feels fine with mixed types of tyre. I do wish my rear PS2s would hurry up and wear out though...
