Key reprogramming strange incident
So i have one key that doesn't work as a result of car battery going flat over Christmas. One works. So i unlock car with working key,get in car to do the reset as per.
1.Working from within the vehicle and with the doors shut 2. Turn ignition to position 1 and back to off within 5 seconds. 3. Remove the key from ignition and press and hold the unlock button for 15 seconds during this time press the key lock button 3 times within 5 seconds. 4. Release both buttons. 5. Doors will lock and unlock to show correct programming has occurred. Reprogrammed Key works fine, but i remember once before doing this, and it knocked the working key out, and so it was this time, I have it written down somewhere how to resolve but cant get at it at min, and a search of the forum didn't show it up, but its been done to death before ! well, I reprogram the original good key, and sure enough, the other one doesn't work, so trying to sort it out, I think about trying to press all the buttons in sequence on 2 keys at once...haha ! With both keys close together, I hold down the unlock button on 1 key, and guess what ? ... all the windows came open !! back ones too ! strange I thought. So I still need to program both keys together, preferably before Friday ! Who remebers how to do both keys at once?

Found it !
Remote Key Re-Initialise - If a key fails to operate remotely, it will have to be re-initialised (all keys in sequence at the same time) - Get in and “close all doors” - Turn ignition on & off quickly (no more than 5 seconds) to start the process. Next action must take place within 30 seconds - First key - hold down button #2 (unlock) while striking button #1 (lock) three times. Release button #2. Confirmed by door lock operation. - Repeat for second key within 30 seconds of first. - After last key then cycle the ignition on/off to finalise the process (not necessary to start the engine. Both keys should now have new "randomly selected" security "code words" - asigned by the car's system. Those codes will be continuously incremented within the new sequence each time you hit a button. It is when they get out of sequence with the car that they loose the capability to be recognised and you then have to do this again. That occurs when you take longer than 1 minute changing the battery, or if you hit buttons more often the 1000 times when it is out of range of the car.

No worries If you can get one key initialised the other should initialise straight after.
Dont worry about re-doing the lock/unlock and ignition sequence seperately for both keys, just do it once. After you have done the button sequence on the 1st key, wait till the locks bounce then straight away do the same on the 2nd key and it will initialise. SO; unlock car get in shut door ign on, ign off press and hold unlock button on 1st key press lock button 3 times release both buttons at the same time locks bounce ---------------- press and hold unlock button on 2nd key pres lock button 3 times release both buttons at the same time locks bounce If that doesn't work whichever key does not initialise will need to be replaced. |
