Default Some updates/mods and a good clean

Gave the CSL a good clean today, and got some photos of it with the little mods Ive added.

added:

schroth quick release harnesses
15mm and 12mm Spacers
Bmw plate holder (acquired from the Factory in Munich when I paid a visit last year)
Pagid RS29's
Braided Lines
Brembo Fluid
Depo's (still not sure on these)

Have done around 3500 miles in her now with only a few days on dry days so only just really getting the chance to push it more in the corners. Had toyed with the idea of coilovers, but the more I use it on roads around me the more I think it would make it more difficult to progress quickly as some of the roads are just to bumpy for coilies. One of the other reasons was having seen Dereks on KW's, it sat really nicely, but having added the spacers I think it sits much nicer and is a nice compromise.

Also if anyones any good at photoshop and fancies tarting upand of the photos that would be ace!

Photoshop you rang sir?

Nothing wrong with the images, other than you should never take a pic viewing into the light source, left rear 3/4 shot.

Those belts are going to make a mess of the Alcantara, where are they anchored in the rear belt sockets, if so will it pass an MOT with that set up.
Looks like you've inadvertently provided a get out of jail clause for the insurance company, if that's the case.

Harnesses use existing seat belt mounts and a couple of clips that bolt underneath. 30s to remove/put in!

Surely thats not strong enough in the event of an accident though ? Not being a spoil sport here but I think you would be safer with the factory belt.

If a standard seat belt just uses two points of contact, and this uses four. Id assume that was safer. Im sure schroth wouldn't make something that wasn't tested and up to standard.

Regards wear, I will only use them for track days or the ring if I were ever to do any. Thats the reason for using a quick release system. I have also put seat belt pads wear they make contact with the seat.

The original belts are still there and used on a day to day basis.

The schroths are not the problem. I´m more concerned about the fact, that the standard seats are not designed for this kind of harnesses. There is a reason, that full bucket seats have holes for the harnesses for defined guidance. Your pelvis cant be fixed properly, and there is also is a chance, that the shoulder belts will wipe off by the sides.

Fair point. Across the lap it is held very tight and I'd say is more secure feeling than the standard belt. I can see what your saying across the shoulders and in certain circumstances could occur, however, I run my belts really tight as I do in my race car and you couldn't physically move the belt off the shoulder (also worth bearing in mind that the shoulders sit above the wings of the seat so wouldnt be angled as in the photo). According to schroth these are designed for an E46 M3, maybe not a CSL but they don't have holes in them either. I wont be doing much track work if any, but just felt these would be safer at the ring in may, and having tried them quickly on the road they definitely give you a much improved sense of security in the seat. Like you say though as to whether they actually work is not proven.
