Got the bug now for a track day
Yesterday I did the Palmer Sport M3 thrash at Bedford, really got to drive the car hard and see the M3's true potential.
http://www.palmersport.com/bmw-m3-gtp.aspx So I now want to do my first track day and see what the CSL's got, I cant do Bedford due to noise and dont fancy dicking about changing the supersprint. So was thinking maybe a novice day at Brands or Snetterton first. The car is running Eagle F1's with 6.5mm of tread left on the rears. Do I do the novice day on these and see how I get on or buy another set of rims/tyres and ruin those and then use the F1's for wet use? Any advice welcome. Billy |

You can start off on those but they don't really do the car justice. Will be OK for wet as well. However, when you get into it there's nothing quite like the OEM Cups.
Most of us have a spare set of rims running Cups most of the time but then having the option to put something more suitable for wet weather if needed.....................................or if we're feeling

Out of interest, how much driving time did you get in the M3? I assume by your write up there was no rev limit & could you drive on your own, or was there an instructor on hand for some advice. Value for money?

good to hear you had a good time I did a few track days on the F1s and they were fine, when you get into it cups are the way to go.
I did the full Palmer day and the 1/2 day and I found the M3 to be the worst car IMHO They do put on a good day at Palmer Sport |

6 people go out at once, you can thrash the shit out of the car, my instructor was awesome and pushes you to the limits of the car. Each car has an instructor. You can over take anywhere on the circuit, even corners if its safe. The instructor tells you when to brake, apply power, correct steering if necessary etc. We drove around in M Track mode. Id say well worth £100. Hence thats why its time to take the CSL to the track and see what that can do. Cars had eibach springs, AP racing discs, roll cage, sports exhaust and Avon zzr's. (I could believe how well these handled) The instructor does have a brake pedal if shit hits the fan. Billy |

Thanks Billy, £100 sounds good when using their tyres, petrol, instruction, etc

Billy - would give novice days a swerve mate....you tend to get allsorts there in very different motors (in terms if capability) - you'll be fine on a regular day
