Engine management light, get a fault code reader plugged into obd port for fault.

I had the top part of the air box off today cleaning it out
I wonder if I've upset some sensors or something.
It's running fine

As far as i remember in order to take the airbox off, you also have to unplug the throttle position sensor cable, it might have raised the error code if you left the ignition on while doing so.

I would advise you getting a BMW Scanner and check for errors and incase of something minor, delete it. BMW wants like 50€ for smth like that here.

Have you got standard exhaust and cats? I've got the miltek and 100 cel cats on mine and I get this light every few months. Fault code is straightforward and no harm to the engine. I have a little wifi device that plugs into the obd port and an app on the phone to check and clear the code.

Check all the plugs you removed for removal of the air box are re connected and fitted correctly.
Disconnect the battery for 10min to do a soft reset and try again.

Should do the trick if it only come on after the cleaning.
